Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Play At Alabama Four-In-The-Fall
September 19, 2021 | Men's Tennis
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Princeton University men's tennis wrapped up play on the third and final day of the Alabama Four-In-The-Fall Tournament Sunday at the Tuscaloosa Tennis Center.
"It was a good weekend of competition and nice to see nine of our 12 players compete," said Head Coach Billy Pate. "There were a lot of takeaways, especially for the younger players. We had a few matches slip out of our hands but it was the first college event back for many of the guys - and it was evident in some cases. We'll clean those areas up for next weekend at UVA as we look forward to continued challenges against strong opponents."
Seniors Karl Poling and Damian Rodriguez were named to the All-Tournament Team in doubles. The duo overcame Enzo Aguiard and Filip Planinsek of Alabama, 6-3; they were not only Tiger doubles tandem to earn a win on the final day of competition, as senior Bill Duo and sophomore Ben Smith overcameJoao Ferreira and Juan Martin, 6-4.
In singles, No. 101 Poling defeated Alabma's German Samofalov 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4), while Rodriguez earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Juan Martin of the Crimson Tide.
