Men’s Tennis to Open Season at Orange Lawn Invitational
September 09, 2021 | Men's Tennis
PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's tennis team will open its season at the Orange Lawn Invitational on Friday, September 10 at the Orange Lawn Tennis Club.
The event, which takes place in South Orange, New Jersey, runs through until Sunday, September 12. Along with Princeton, student-athletes from the University of Buffalo, Yale University, and the University of Pennsylvania will be attendance.
"We are grateful to return to competition as we begin the fall season," said Head Coach Billy Pate. "It will be a good experience for our four guys to play at the historic Orange Lawn Racquet Club. Their club membership has been incredibly supportive in wanting to host this event and it will be fun to play on clay – which we rarely do in college tennis. This will be a beneficial starting point for the next several weeks of tournament play and it will be nice to see two of our seniors and two first year players compete this weekend."
The Tigers will send four student-athletes to the event; seniors Bill Duo and Justin Barki, along with freshmen Filippos Astreinidis and Alan Kam.
Prior to the cancellation of the 2019-20 season, Barki was ranked No. 66 by the ITA in doubles with junior Thomas Bosancic. As a team, Princeton was ranked No. 18, which was its highest-ever ranking under Head Coach Billy Pate.
