No. 23 Women’s Tennis Opens Dual Season in Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. – The No. 23 Princeton University women's tennis team begins their dual season on the road, as they take on the No.19 Oklahoma Sooners at 3:00 PM ET (2:00 PM PT). Tomorrow the Tigers will travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma in a matchup against the Oklahoma State Cowboys, who also received Top-25 votes, at 6:00 PM ET (5:00 PM PT).
Princeton had a highly successful fall season, the ITA rankings reflecting the team's achievements. Daria Frayman earned the program's highest-ever singles ranking of number four overall, while the duo of Frayman and Grace Joyce earned a program-best ranking of number seven overall in duos. Frayman was the ITA Northeast Super Regionals Singles Champion and Doubles Champion, as well as the ITA Fall Nationals Runner-Up.
Two more Tigers earned ITA singles rankings, with Victoria Hu checking in at 23rd overall and Brianna Shvets at 60th overall. Hu was the ITA Northeast Super Regionals Singles Runner-Up, in addition to being the ITA All-American Championships Consolation Singles Champion.
In the 2020 dual season, the Tigers went 10-3 and finished the year as the fifth ranked team in the nation.
On the Sooners: Oklahoma went 15-7 during last year's dual season. The Sooners have four ranked players, Layne Sleeth their highest ranked player at number 16 overall.
On the Cowboys: Oklahoma State went 11-12 during last year's dual season. The Cowboys have two ranked players, Oona Orpana their highest ranked player at number 55 overall.
The duo of Ayumi Miyamoto and Mananchaya Sawangkaew ranks 56th in the nation.
