TIGERS GO 1-0-1 ON NEW YORK TRIP
Princeton secured four points over the weekend in ECAC play, picking up a 5-4 win at No. 8 Cornell and following up with a 2-2 tie at Colgate the next night before the Raiders secured the extra point in the shootout. The win at Cornell snapped a 10-game winless streak dating back to 11/13/21.
PRINCETON KNOCKS OFF #8 CORNELL IN ITHACA
Three days after a loss at No. 1 Quinnipiac, Princeton went into Lynah and defeated No. 8 Cornell, 5-4, for Ron Fogarty's first win in Ithaca in his seventh trip. The win over the Big Red was Princeton first in Ithaca since 2013 and first over a Top-10 team since a 4-1 win over a No. 2 Cornell team in the 2018 ECAC Semifinals and the first regular-season win over a Top-10 foe since a 5-4 (OT) win over No. 4 Penn State on 1/28/17.
SPENCER'S GIFTS LEAD TIGERS TO WIN AT CORNELL
Spencer Kersten had two goals in the win at Cornell, including a big answer with 1:55 left to regain a two-goal lead. He was joined by linemate Corey Andonovski who had three assists, including one via a big blocked shot with 0:24 left that led to Ian Murphy's ENG which was the eventual GWG.
TIGERS BACK AT IT AFTER LAYOFF TO BEGIN 2022
Princeton had its first six games in January postponed due to COVID-19 protocols affecting both the Tigers and opponents. The postponements resulted in a 37-day layoff between games for the squad before diving right back into the first at No. 1 Quinnipiac on Tuesday. Princeton should get back to game speed pretty quick with five games in a 10-day span between 1/18 and 1/28. Overall, the Tigers will play 16 games over the season's final 40 days.
