Men's Hockey Falls To No. 5 Quinnipiac, 4-1
November 18, 2022 | Men's Ice Hockey
Princeton outshot No. 5 Quinnipiac, 23-18, but was unable to use that to its advantage in a 4-1 loss to the Bobcats at Hobey Baker Rink.
Noah de la Durantaye scored for Princeton, cashing in the rebound of a Ian Murphy shot early in the third period, just one second after a Princeton power play had expired.
Skylar Brind'Amour opened the scoring for Quinnipiac, slipping free in front to finish a cross-ice pass from Charles-Alexis Legault 11:32 into the game.
Joe Cippolone gave the Bobcats a 2-0 lead 4:24 later, threading a back-hander inside the near post off the rush.
In the second period, Quinnipiac tacked on a power-play goal just passed the midway mark. Sam Lipkin was open at the right post and he took a Zach Metsa pass and beat Pearson for the Bobcats' third goal of the night.
TJ Friedmann struck quickly in the third period for Quinnipiac, pouncing on the rebound of a Cipollone shot and backhanding it through for a 4-0 Bobcats lead.
The two teams will be back at it in Hamden on Saturday with a 7 p.m. faceoff.
