No. 15 Princeton Wins Third Straight, Tops St. Lawrence
November 18, 2022 | Women's Ice Hockey
Rookie Emerson O'Leary's team-best fourth goal of the season gave the No. 15-ranked Princeton women's hockey team a first-period lead, and with 30 saves from Jennifer Olnowich, the Tigers completed the shutout Friday afternoon in Baker Rink over St. Lawrence, 1-0.
St. Lawrence is the first team in the "receiving votes" listing in both the DCU/USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine rankings.
Princeton outshot St. Lawrence 60-59 overall and 38-30 on goal with the sophomore Olnowich's 30 saves raising her career high from the 25 she had against Cornell earlier this season. Olnowich, who has won her last three starts, made it back-to-back shutouts and has not allowed a goal in her last 137:33 between the pipes.
The lone goal of the game came with 11:21 to play in the first period. After a St. Lawrence skater slipped in Princeton's defensive zone, O'Leary picked up the puck and raced back toward the St. Lawrence net in a two-on-two with Maggie Connors. After a quick dish from O'Leary, Connors sent it back to O'Leary in the slot for the finish.
The Tigers will host No. 10 Clarkson Saturday at 3 p.m. Tickets are available here, and fans are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item as part of the Tigers Fight Hunger initiative, which will donate the items to area food banks ahead of the holiday season.
