November 25, 2022 | Women's Ice Hockey
Rookie Issy Wunder had the goal as the No. 14-ranked Princeton women's hockey team battled but fell 4-1 to No. 8 Northeastern in its first of two games at the Smashville Showcase at the Ford Ice Center Bellevue, the training home of the NHL's Nashville Predators.
Wunder's goal came on a centering pass from junior Sarah Fillier, who had her 121st career point with the assist. The goal cut Princeton's deficit to 2-1 less than four minutes into the third period, but less than five minutes later, Northeastern's Peyton Anderson restored the Huskies' two-goal lead before teammate Maureen Murphy completed her hat trick with less than four minutes to go in the game. After the teams had a scoreless first period, Murphy scored twice in the second period to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead.
Princeton outshot Northeastern 27-26 on goal with sophomore netminder Jennifer Olnowich making 22 saves. Princeton will face No. 9 Cornell in its second and final game of the Smashville Showcase, set for Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed here via Twitch.
