Princeton Rowing Celebrates Anniversaries This Weekend
November 04, 2022 | Heavyweight Rowing, Women's Rowing - Open, Women's Rowing - Lightweight, Men's Rowing - Lightweight
PRINCETON – It's a weekend of celebration as the Shea Rowing Center will honor the 150th (Heavies), 100th (men's lightweight), 50th (women's open rowing) and 25th (women's lightweight rowing) anniversaries of Princeton rowing this weekend. Over 1,000 rowing alumni and alumnae are expected to attend.
The Tigers will also host the Princeton Chase on Sunday.
"We all shared so much with our teammates during our time rowing for Princeton, both on and off of the water," said Princeton Heavyweight head coach Greg Hughes. "What's even more powerful is the way that these shared experiences connect us all, across generations of Princeton rowers. The things we experienced for ourselves and with our own teammates were also experienced by the classes of rowers that came before and after us."
Here's the rundown for Saturday
10:00 am - 12:00 pm: Welcome Back Reception & Alumni Row at Boathouse
6:00 pm - 8:30 pm: Cocktail Reception & Anniversary Dinner at Poe Field Tent
9:00 pm - 11:00 pm: After-Dinner Party at Cloister Inn.
On Sunday, racing for the Princeton Chase will get underway at 9 a.m. with the men's heavyweights varsity eight. Final race goes off at 1:40 p.m. Each Princeton team will race multiple boats across multiple events. The full schedule and results can be found here.
Princeton is coming off a fantastic run at the Head of the Charles. For the Heavies, Nick Mead's '17 fours boat won the event while the Tigers collected the second-best collegiate time. The men's and women's lightweight varsity eights also were second in their races followed by women's open crew finishing fourth.
