Tigers Strike Twice in Second Half to Take Senior Day Win over Penn
November 05, 2022 | Women's Soccer
A pair of early second-half goals flipped a one-goal halftime deficit to a 2-1 win Saturday afternoon at Roberts Stadium as the Princeton women's soccer team on the program's Senior Day and 2022 season finale.
Penn took a lead in the 34th minute when Isobel Glass found Anuli Okafor with a crossing pass, and the Quakers held the 1-0 lead through halftime.
It took less than two minutes after the halftime break for Princeton to even it up. Lily Bryant took a ball into the 18 and passed to Kelsee Wozniak, who one-touched it to a charging Grace Sherman for the finish.
Â
Less than four minutes after that, Princeton went in front. Sherman sent a pass forward for Tordin into Princeton's attacking half, and with a defender marking her, Tordin, Princeton's leading goal scorer on the season, flipped it to rookie classmate Wozniak for the finish.
Â
Tordin finished as Princeton's leading goal scorer, with eight, becoming the first Tiger rookie to lead the team in scoring since Tyler Lussi '17 in 2013.Â
Princeton outshot Penn on the day 18-10 overall and 6-3 on goal. Ella Gantman played the first half in goal, making one save, and Tyler McCamey played a shutout second half, also making one save.
Princeton finishes the season at 9-7-1 for its 10th straight winning season, tying a program-best streak alongside a 10-season run from 1997 through 2006. Princeton recognized its six-member senior class prior to the game, including Gantman, Marissa Hart, Gracyn Kuerner, Kamryn Loustau, Sherman and Morgan Wiese.
