Reigning Ivy Champion Softball Team Announces 2023 Schedule
January 02, 2023 | Softball
Seven fellow teams that played in the 2022 NCAA tournament, including NCAA runner-up Texas, are part of the 2023 schedule for the reigning Ivy League champion Princeton softball team.
2023 Schedule
Princeton returns seven All-Ivy League honorees from the 2022, including Ivy Pitcher of the Year Alexis Laudenslager and Rookie of the Year Sophia Marsalo. Along with Laudenslager and first baseman Marsalo, fellow first-team All-Ivy honorees returning for 2023 include outfielder Serena Starks, utility player Alison Ha, and designated player Adrienne Chang. Shortstop Grace Jackson was a second-team All-Ivy honoree, as was outfielder Lauren Sablone.Â
Notes on the 2023 slate:
• The pre-conference schedule includes three events, weekends of competition hosted by Liberty (Feb. 24-26) and Texas (Mar. 3-5), and the Spring Games (Mar. 11-15) in Madeira Beach, Fla. Six of the seven 2022 NCAA tournament teams on Princeton's schedule will be at one of those three events, including Liberty, Texas, Louisiana (at Texas), McNeese State (at Texas), Lehigh (Spring Games) and Chattanooga (Spring Games).Â
• The home season and the Ivy League season will begin with the Mar. 18-19 weekend against Yale. Princeton will have three home Ivy weekends, along with Apr. 8-9 against Columbia and Apr. 22-23 against Harvard, which Princeton defeated in the Ivy League Playoff Series last spring.Â
• Once returning to the Northeast after the pre-conference events, Princeton will have four non-conference opponents in Rider (Mar. 29, away), Lehigh (Apr. 5, home), Villanova (Apr. 25, away) and Monmouth (May 4, home).
• The Ivy League postseason has a new format this year. May 11-13, the top four teams in the league will play a double-elimination tournament hosted by the top-seeded team to determine the league's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.Â
