PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 4 seed Princeton University men's volleyball team open play at the 2022 Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Championships Wednesday night in the First Round against Saint Francis University. The tournament is being hosted by No. 1 seed Penn State in University Park, Pennsylvania.

The Princeton University men's volleyball team will ride a seven-match winning streak into the postseason after earning the weekend sweep of Sacred Heart University, taking down the Pioneers 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 31-29) Saturday afternoon inside Dillon Gymnasium on Senior Day.
Prior to the match, a ceremony was held honoring the Tigers' classes of '22 and '21; Niko Gjaja, Joe Kelly, Parker Dixon, Jerod Nelsen, Attila Delingat, A.J. Chen, and Jess Hunt.
Gjaja led the way for Princeton, hitting .450 and finishing with a match and career-high 11 kills. Kelly led the match in assists with 34, First Year Matt Suh led the team in digs with five, and First Year Nyherowo Omene recorded a match-high six blocks.

As a team, Princeton ranks No. 7 in the nation in service aces per set (1.70), and No. 10 in blocks (2.31)
Sophomore Ben Harrington is the Tigers' leader in kills per set (3.17), digs (1.44), and service aces (0.60), a category where he also ranks third in the nation. Senior Joe Kelly leads Princeton in assists (5.46), and the Tigers are led in blocks by sophomore Gavin Leising (0.84)
Last Time They Met
Princeton took down the Red Flash, 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-15), on Saturday, March 19, inside Dillon Gymnasium.
Scouting SFU
The Red Flash ended the regular season with a 15-12 record, and an 8-8 record in EIVA play. Most recently, Saint Francis fell 3-1 (25-23, 17-25, 25-21, 26-24) to the University of Charleston inside the Wehrle Innovation Center on Saturday, April 16.
Blake Liprando leads Saint Francis in kills (2.95) and service aces (0.38), and Ryan Parker leads the team in assists (8.95). Andrew Deardorff leads SFU in digs (1.54), and Zac Cabral in blocks (1.56).
Last Time At The EIVA Tournament
The Tigers last played at the EIVA Tournament in 2019, and emerged as Champions after defeating Penn State in the Championship Match, 3-2 (28-26, 22-25, 25-18, 20-25, 15-13) inside Dillon Gymnasium on Saturday, April 20. That season, Princeton also faced the Red Flash in the semifinals, earning a 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-19) victory on Thursday, April 18. Georg Huhmann '20 garnered Most Valuable Player of the Tournament honors.
The EIVA Tournament was canceled in 2020, and the Tigers did not compete in 2021 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
