Following Weekend Sweep, Blanchard Earns Ivy Pitcher of the Week

A weekend sweep helped Princeton move closer in its pursuit of hosting the Ivy League Championship Series, and Ali Blanchard was a big part of an important weekend for the Tigers.
Blanchard contributed in the circle to two of the three wins, throwing 8 1/3 shutout innings in all and allowing just two hits, two walks and striking out 10 over that time. Blanchard started the first and third games of the series, going 5 1/3 innings in Saturday's 3-0 win and the first three innings of Sunday's 9-5 win.
On the league season, Blanchard is 6-1 with a 2.09 ERA in 53 2/3 innings with a league-best 82 strikeouts.Â
Now 14-4 in the league and 22-13-1 overall, Princeton will host Rider for two on Wednesday at 3 p.m. before going to Columbia for its final Ivy series. A sweep there, coupled with one Dartmouth loss over the Big Green's final nine league games, would bring the Ivy League Championship Series to Princeton May 13-14.
