The teams combined for 11 penalties in the game, with Princeton killing off all six LIK power plays.
Murphy got the Tigers on the board 1:50 into the game with a wraparound stuff far-side for his fifth goal of the season. A sustained cycle from Murphy and the Gorman brothers led to Murphy finding space behind the net where he cut back to his forehand to beat Vinnie Purpura to the far post.
The Tigers could have had a chance to extend their lead after LIU's Patriks Marcinkevics was sent off after a five-minute hitting from behind major penalty with 4:00 left in the opening period. Instead, a pair of Princeton penalties – roughing on Pito Walton followed by kneeing on David Ma – negated that extended power play.On Our Grind... On The Scoreboard!

Murphy doubled Princeton's lead early in the second period, patiently faking out a LIU defender and the goalie to deposit a backhander.
The Tigers had a prime chance to extend their lead with 5:29 remaining in the second when Mackenzie Merriman was awarded a penalty shot after being hooked while clean on a breakaway. However, Purpura stood tall and got a pad on Merriman's snap shot.Ian Murphy... Officially On A Heater.

Less than a minute later, LIU got on the board when Chris Pappas was first to the rebound of a Cade Mason shot and snuck it home to cut Princeton's lead to 2-1.
Liam Gorman beat the buzzer to send Princeton to the second intermission with a two-goal lead. After the Sharks coughed up the puck in the neutral zone, Gorman waited until his linemates were onside and then sped by a defender and snapped a perfect offering high over Purpura's blocker with 5.1 seconds remaining in the middle period.
For the third period in a row, Princeton netted an early goal to gain momentum. To start the third, Liam Gorman finished off a short-handed 2-on-1 with Liam Murphy 3:03 in to give the Tigers a 4-1 lead.
LIU quickly answered with its second goal of the night as Noah Kane snuck free at the far post ti close out a 3-on-2 just under six minutes into the third.Liam Gorman... So Hot Right Now!

The Tigers stood tall – bolstered by three Ethan Pearson saves.
