The first of two games on the road in New York saw Princeton come up on the short end of a 5-0 loss at Colgate.
The Tigers never truly got in gear, allowing a late goal in each of the first two periods before the Raiders exploded for three goals in the third.
Colgate netted a late power-play goal to take a 1-0 lead after the first period. Alex DiPaolo quickly one-timed a Ross Mitton pass from just outside the crease, ending a streak of 14 consecutive penalties killed by the Tigers.
Ethan Pearson was busy in the first period, making 13 total saves to keep the Tigers within range. He finished the game with 31 saves.
Colgate was 2-for-4 on the powerplay, while Princeton was 0-for-4.
The Raiders would double their lead with a late second-period goal just moments after killing off a Princeton power play. Daniel Panetta worked his way to the far left post, and a cross-ice pass threaded through multiple bodies for a quick tap-in and a 2-0 Colgate lead.
Colgate quickly made it a 3-0 game 1:19 into the third period with a Levi Glasman goal. A turnover at the Colgate blueline led to a 2-on-1 break for the Raiders, and Glasman called his own number for a wrist shot top corner.
Matt Verboon tacked on a fourth Colgate goal with 8:20 left in the third, snaking a wrist shot through traffic and above the blocker. The fifth came on another 2-on-1 a Pierson Brandon banged home the rebound of a Panetta shot.
