Men's Hockey Makes Hobey Proud With 4-2 Win Over Dartmouth

From start to finish, January 7, 2023 was a day that would unquestionably "Make Hobey Proud".
The Princeton Hockey programs gathered together to celebrate the 100th year of Hobey Baker Rink, with generations of alumni and fans selling out the barn and watching the Tigers vanquish Dartmouth, 4-2.
The nightcap – contested in front of a sold-out Baker Rink – began with a ceremonial puck drop on Salute To Service Night from Princeton Hockey alumnus and 20th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley '80 and went on to see the hosts rally valiantly to overcome a first-period deficit and secure three important ECAC points.
Ian Murphy had a career-high two goals to lead the Tigers, while Liam Gorman had a goal and an assist. Defenseman Nick Carabin tied his career-best with two helpers, while Nick Seitz netted the eventual game-winner with a short-handed goal.
Gorman finished #Hobey100 weekend with four points (3g, 1a), while Carabin had three assists and Murphy had three points (2g, 1a).
The Big Green struck first with 4:52 remaining in the first period via a John Fusco slapshot on the powerplay.
That lead was short-lived, however, as Liam Gorman connected for his third goal of the weekend just 0:49 later when he redirected home a Nick Carabin point shot to tie the game at 1-1 after one period.
Ian Murphy netted a quick goal to open the second period, weaving in unassisted and sniping home a snapshot 1:04 in after a Dartmouth turnover.
Nick Seitz would snatch the momentum back with 6:55 left in the middle period, collecting a looping Nick Carabin pass in the neutral zone and turning it into a short-handed goal on a breakaway.
In the third period, neither side broke through until an empty-net goal from Murphy with 1:58 to play off a nice saucer pass assist from Liam Gorman.

The day really began with a visit from another hockey icon – The Stanley Cup – and went on to feature a Tiger Sweep as the men's win followed a 3-0 shutout for the women's program to truly make it a special day for all involved with Princeton Hockey.A Seitz To Behold!

With the win, Princeton improves to 8-9-0 overall and 6-7-0 in ECAC play. The Tigers have already matched their win total from all of last season, and are one conference win away from equaling their 2022-23 total.Good Things Happen At The Net!
