Trio of First-Teamers Lead Tigers' Six Women's Soccer All-Ivy Honorees
November 01, 2023 | Women's Soccer
As the Princeton women's soccer team gets set to compete in the Ivy League Tournament this weekend, the Tigers learned that six among their ranks will gain the title of 2023 All-Ivy League honoree.
Sophomore forward Pietra Tordin, senior defender Madison Curry and senior midfielder Aria Nagai earned first-team recognition, sophomore forward Drew Coomans was a second-team honoree, junior midfielder Lily Bryant earned honorable mention, and senior forward Jen Estes was the team's Academic All-Ivy League honoree.
One of four unanimous selections on the first-team All-Ivy, Tordin, the 2022 Ivy League Rookie of the Year, earned her second All-Ivy honor after her second-team recognition in 2022. Tordin enters the Ivy League Tournament leading the league with 12 goals on the season, four more than she had in her rookie season last fall. Tordin's 12 goals already tie her for the ninth-most in a season in program history, and with two-plus seasons to go with the program, Tordin stands 14th on Princeton's career list with 20 goals. Adding five assists this season to the total, Tordin's 29 points in 2023 account for almost 30 percent of Princeton's points on the season.
While also contributing two goals this season, co-captain Curry has helped Princeton's back line hold opponents to 1.19 goals per game, and her 1,226 minutes played are the second-most of any field player on the team. The honor is Curry's third All-Ivy recognition in as many seasons of competition with Princeton, joining first-team plaudits in 2019 and 2021.Â
Nagai's All-Ivy honor is also her third in as many seasons of competition with the program, adding to a 2022 honorable mention and a 2021 second-team honor. While contributing a goal and two assists this season, Nagai has been a regular in the Tiger midfield, playing 1,177 minutes while making 13 starts in all 16 games played.
Coomans' All-Ivy honor is her first, and it comes in a season in which she scored her first two goals with the program and added five assists. The nine points are tied for second-most on the team, as are the five assists. Coomans has started 11 games while playing in all 16.
A first-team All-Ivy honoree a year ago, Bryant adds her second league honor in a season that has seen her score a goal and tie her career best with five assists, playing in all 16 games and starting 15 of them.Â
Estes received the team's place on the Academic All-Ivy squad after the economics major and co-captain tied a career high with three goals while adding an assist for seven points across all 16 games, making 11 starts.Â
