Men's Soccer Dominates Columbia with a Stunning 4-0 Victory in First Ivy League Win of the Season

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton men's soccer team (4-4-1) dominated its match against Columbia this afternoon at Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium. The Tigers had three different goal scorers and Khamari Hadaway posted his first clean sheet of the 2023 season. The Tigers walked away with a 4-0 win, their first Ivy League conference win of the season.
How It Happened
- In the 7th minute, Daniel Ittycheria's header nearly got there but sailed high above the net
- Columbia's Joao Lima's shot in the 12th minute was blocked on the doorstep of the Princeton goal.
- Daniel Ittycheria broke open the scoring for the Tigers in the 24th minute on a breakaway goal assisted by Walker Gillespie. The goal marks the sophomore's 6th goal of the season.
- The Tiger's quickly found another scoring opportunity in the 25th minute when defenseman Whit Gamblin perfectly placed a ball from midfield to Will Francis who put the ball in the low center of the goal to make it a 2-0 game.
- The scoring did not stop at two in the first half, Ian Nunez saw to that. The freshman Nunez found his second goal of the season off of the Columbia goalie missed save attempt and scored the Tiger's third goal.
- Princeton outshot the Lions 9 to 3 in the first 45 minutes with Hadaway tallying 2 saves.
- The score at halftime was 3-0 in favor of Princeton
- Right out of the gate in the second half, the Tigers had three scoring opportunities ending with Jack Jasinski missing the net wide right.
- Brace yourself, Daniel Ittycheria wasn't done scoring yet. The sophomore connected on his second goal of the match, 7th goal the season, off of an assist from Logan Oyama in the 55th minute.
- Heyward Bryan and Ian MacIver saw their first playing time in the final minutes of the match.
- The Tigers outshot Columbia 19Â over 5 with 9Â shots on goal.
- The final score, a 4-0 Princeton win
