Weaver, Bunyan Combine for Five Medals at Pan Am Games

Squash competition at the Pan Am Games in Santiago, Chile wrapped up Sunday as the pair of Princeton women's squash alumnae, Olivia (née Fiechter) Weaver '18 (USA) and Nicole Bunyan '15 (Canada) combined for five medals and went head-to-head on the final day.
The medal run started on Wednesday with Weaver, ranked No. 9 in the world, rallying from being down two games to none to defeat fellow American and world No. 5-ranked Amanda Sobhy 4-11, 6-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-6 to win gold. Bunyan, ranked No. 49 in the world made the quarterfinals in singles.
Each Tiger won a medal on Friday, with Bunyan taking silver in mixed doubles alongside playing partner George Crowne. Princeton had a connection to the winning doubles pair as well, with Team USA's Olivia (née Blatchford) Clyne as the wife of Princeton men's assistant coach Alan Clyne. Olivia Clyne and playing partner Timothy Brownell won the final 11-6, 10-11, 11-6.
Weaver followed later on Friday with her second medal, winning silver in the women's doubles event alongside Sobhy as the Colombian pair of Laura Tovar and Lucia Bautista won 11-8, 3-11, 11-9 in the final.
The two Tigers went head to head in the match that helped decide which medal each would end with in the women's team competition. The U.S. took each of the first two matches against Canada in the three-player team final, with Weaver defeating Bunyan 11-7, 11-3, 11-7 and Sobhy defeating Bunyan's Canadian teammate Hollie Naughton 11-8, 11-8, 11-8 to clinch.
