Men's Hockey Downed By Clarkson, 4-1
February 11, 2023 | Men's Ice Hockey
Princeton came up short in the second game of its North Country road trip, falling to Clarkson, 4-1.
Noah de la Durantaye scored for the Tigers, capping a three-point weekend after posting two assists on Friday night.
Clarkson extended its lead to 2-0 with 3:33 left in the opening period as Matthieu Gosselin sent a snapshot short side on the rush for an unassisted goal.
Noah de la Durantaye got the Tigers on the board midway through the second period. With the teams playing 4-on-4, Princeton worked offensive zone pressure which led to good cycling from Jack Cronin and David Jacobs and eventually a drop pass to de la Durantaye in the high slot for a quick snapshot off the post and in for his fourth goal of the season.
Clarkson regained a two-goal lead 7:37 into the third period via an Anthony Callin goal. Clarkson forced a Princeton turnover deep in the Tigers' offensive zone, and a seemingly harmless clearing attempt from the Golden Knights took a home-team bounce through a Tiger's legs at the blue line and sent Clarkson away on an off-man rush where eventually an Ayrton Martino pass evaded a sliding Princeton defender and found Callin alone in front.
The Golden Knights would add more insurance off a long-distance empty-netter from Kaelan Taylor with 2:19 remaining. With the Tigers on the power-play, Clarkson won a draw in their own end and Taylor's long wrister found the empty cage for a 4-1 Clarkson lead.
Princeton returns to Hobey Baker Rink for a pair of home games – the final two home contests of the regular season – against Brown (February 17) and Yale (February 18) with 7 p.m. faceoffs.

The Golden Knights struck early, capitalizing on a Princeton turnover 4:37 into the game. Ayrton Martino picked off a clearing pass and slid back across the ice to Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup for a backhander. Some Razzle Dazzle!
