2023 NCAA Wrestling Championships Brackets
Patrick Glory, Quincy Monday, Luke Stout and Travis Stefanik learned their opening opponents for the NCAA Championships, set for March 16-18 in Tulsa, Okla.
At 125 pounds, senior Glory is a four-time NCAA qualifier and seeking to become Princeton's second wrestler to earn four All-American honors, along with former teammate Matthew Kolodzik '21. A national finalist last year at the weight, Glory holds the No. 2 seed and will open against Oklahoma State's No. 31-seeded Reece Witcraft. Iowa's Spencer Lee holds the top seed. Glory's second opponent will be a familiar one regardless of the first-round outcomes, with the Glory-Witcraft pairing matched with 15th-seeded Brett Ungar of Cornell and 18th-seeded Ryan Miller of Penn, the last two opponents Glory defeated to win the EIWA title last weekend and stay undefeated on the season at 20-0.
At 165 pounds, senior Monday is also a four-time NCAA qualifier and will be aiming for his third All-American honor, which would make him just the third Tiger in program history to do so, along with Glory and Kolodzik. Monday holds the No. 5 seed and will take on No. 28-seeded Andrew Sparks of Minnesota. Monday was a national finalist last season at 157 pounds. If the seeds in Monday's quarter of the bracket hold, Monday would meet Cornell's No. 4-seeded Julian Ramirez in the quarterfinals, which would be the third time those wrestlers have met this season. Ramirez is the only wrestler to defeat Monday this season, with Monday entering the NCAAs with a 22-2 record. The two last met in the EIWA final last weekend.
At 197 pounds, sophomore Stout is back at the NCAA Championships for the second time in as many seasons with the program. The EIWA third-place finisher this season holds the No. 28 seed and will take on Cornell's 10th-seeded Jacob Cardenas for the third time this season, with Cardenas having won the wrestlers' dual-match and EIWA semifinal meetings.
At 285 pounds, senior Stefanik is a four-time NCAA qualifier at three different weights, having qualified at 174 as a freshman and sophomore and at 184 as a junior. Stefanik holds the No. 33 seed and will open in a pigtail matchup against No. 32 seed Garrett Joles of Minnesota. The winner will take on top-seeded Mason Parris of Michigan in the round of 32.
Junior Nate Dugan is the first alternate at 184 and will compete if one of the 33 wrestlers in the draw is unable to ahead of the opening round.
