No. 9 Heavies Earn 11th Straight Childs Cup Over No. 14 Penn and No. 19 Columbia

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 9 Men's Heavyweight Rowing Team won four of its five races while collecting the Childs Cup over No. 14 Penn and No. 19 Columbia on the Schuylkill River this afternoon.
The second varsity (5:37.60) began the racing with a thrilling win by four-tenths of a second over Penn (5:37.64) with Columbia placing third (6:00.7).
Princeton's first varsity (5:29.9) picked up an 8.3-second decision (5:38.2), earning the Childs Cup for the 11th straight race.
Third Varsity (5:50.3) earned a 6.9-second decision over Penn (5:57.2) while the fourth varsity was victorious with 5:51.8. Princeton's fifth varsity was second in the 3V event at the Murphy Cup (6:05.45).
"I was pleased with the way that our whole team stepped up to the racing on all levels today," said Princeton head coach Greg Hughes. "We faced a couple of challenges over the course of the week and it was great to see the team embrace them and execute."
