Ivy Champion Open Crew Learns NCAA Championships Seeds

NCAA Seeding
PRINCETON – The NCAA Rowing Committee announced the seedings for the NCAA Rowing Championships tonight.
Princeton won the Ivy League's bid after the 1V won the Ivy Grand Final. The Orange and Black needed every one of the 32 team points awarded to the winner of the Varsity Eight as they entered the final race seven points behind Yale in the team standings. Princeton's win coupled with Yale's third-place finish in the 1V resulted in an eight-point difference in points accumulated in the race which was just enough for the Princeton win.
The Tigers tallied 85 total team points over the course of the regatta, besting Yale by one point for the team championship. Penn was third with 66 points while Brown was fourth with 64.
Princeton's 1V was seeded No. 1 in the NCAA Rowing Championships while the 2V was seeded No. 2 and the A4V was slotted at No. 5. The Tigers' 1V became the first boat to beat Texas in 23 races.
The NCAA team championship is composed of 22 teams. Eleven conferences were awarded automatic qualification, and the remaining eleven slots were filled with at-large selections to complete the championship field. Teams qualifying for the championship are required to field two boats of eight rowers and one boat of four rowers. For the I Eights, II Eights and Fours, all 22 boats will be seeded into four heats.
The championship will be held May 26-28 at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, New Jersey, with Temple University and Camden County Boathouse, serving as hosts.
