Baseball Drops 3-2 Decision To Harvard in Ivy Tournament Opener

PHILADELPHIA – The Harvard Crimson took down the Princeton Baseball Team, 3-2, in the first game of the Ivy League Tournament at Meiklejohn Stadium.
Tom Chmielewski, the Princeton starter, worked around a leadoff double in the second inning with three consecutive outs.
Princeton's first threat came in the fourth inning as Scott Bandura doubled to right and advanced to third base but was left stranded.
The Crimson a runner to third in the sixth stanza, but Chmielewski got a lineout to end the frame.
The Tigers scored twice in the top of the seventh inning as Bandura blasted a ball over the field fence. Princeton later loaded the bases for Noah Granet who was hit by a pitch to add a second run.
Harvard tied the game in the bottom of the seventh on a throwing error and sacrifice fly.
Princeton got a runner in scoring position in the eighth, but a strikeout finished the at-bat. In the bottom of the eighth, Harvard pushed across another unearned run on an error.
The Tigers brought the tying run to third base with two out in the ninth inning but couldn't tie it.
Bandura led the Tigers with two hits. Chmielewski pitched into the seventh, allowing two unearned runs.
Princeton will now face the loser of the Columbia and Penn tomorrow at 11 am in a win or go home contest.
