Coloma and Neapole Named Roche Award Winners
May 24, 2023 | Men's Water Polo
PRINCETON – Joan Coloma and Ryan Neapole have been named the winners of the Scott A.C. Roche '94 Memorial Award, the team announced.
"People often ask what we look for in recruits and it's simple, we look for guys like Ryan and Joan," said Princeton head coach Dustin Litvak. "These are guys who don't always shine on the stat sheet but absolutely make our team go. Selfless, tough, intelligent, prepared, fiercely competitive, and dedicated to whatever the team needs regardless of outside recognition; you don't find players like this too often anymore. This senior class has been a driving force in culture change over their four years here and in addition to Ryan and Joan; Keller, Antonio, Harry (Foster) Nick and Harry (Moross) make up a special group whose impact will last for years to come."
The Roche '94 Award is awarded to the senior player or players who, like Scott, lead with energy and determination, intense competition spirit and a contagious love of the game.
Coloma registered 68 goals and 101 assists in his career while Neapole collected 57 goals, 95 assists and 92 steals during his time at Princeton. The two seniors helped to two Northeast Water Polo Conference titles in 2021 and 2022 while breaking program records in wins in consecutive seasons.
