Vinci and Emus Collect Ivy Weekly Awards
May 08, 2023 | Baseball
PRINCETON – Kyle Vinci (Player) and Jackson Emus (Pitcher) collected Ivy League weekly honors; the league announced today.
Vinci blasted two home runs and had four RBI as Princeton battled Rutgers last Wednesday. He followed that with Ivy League record breaking 20th home run of the season in a 6-5 walk off win over Brown, breaking the mark set by Gene Larkin in 1984. He finished the week with a .400/.438/1.067 slash line in four games. It's the third time that Vinci has been named Ivy Player of the Week this season.
Brown loaded the bases with no outs to open the game in game two of the doubleheader on Saturday, but Jackson Emus got two pop ups and a strikeout. The Bears did the same thing in their next at-bat, but a fielders' choice, strikeout and pop up ended the threat.
Emus finished off a tremendous start by retiring 17 of the final 18 batters he faced. He struck out seven hitters and scattered four hits in seven innings.
