
Women’s Tennis Headed to Wolverine Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. – Fall play continues for the Princeton University women's tennis team at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Michigan, from Sept. 29 – Oct. 1.
Recapping the Cissie Leary Invitational
Princeton's most recent tournament was the Cissie Leary Invitational in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from Sept. 22 – 24. The Tigers had a successful tournament, winning seven out of 12 matches against opponents from the University of Pennsylvania, Syracuse, Drexel and Delaware.
A Strong Start to 2023-24
The Tigers opened the 2023-24 season at the Wahooha Invitational at the Wahooha Invitational at the Virginia Tennis Complex at the Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Virginia, from Sept. 15 – 17. Maia Sung finished as runners up in doubles, going 2-1 and earning a 6-1 victory over No. 46 Melodie Collard and Annabelle Xu of UVA. Chhiv also impressed in singles, finishing her first college tennis tournament with a 3-0 record. Madeleine Jessup also earned a 3-0 record in her first college tennis tournament.
Head Coach Jamea Jackson
Jackson took over as Head Coach ahead of the 2022-23 season and guided Princeton to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the third-straight season with a 4-0 victory over Fordham on May 5. With Jackson at the helm, the Tigers also won a fourth-straight Ivy League title. The Tigers ended the season with a 17-7 overall record along with a perfect 7-0 record in Ivy League play.
The Tigers of 2023-24
Princeton returns senior Neha Velaga, a two-time First Team All-Ivy honoree and the 2022 Ivy Rookie of the Year, along with senior Maia Sung who was a 2022 Second Team All-Ivy honoree in doubles. Returning juniors include Leena Bennetto and Skyler Grishuk along with sophomore Eva Elbaz. In addition to The Tigers welcome four talented newcomers in Jessup, Chhiv, Alice Ferlito and Tsehay Driscoll to an already impressive squad.
