SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Princeton University men's swimming & diving team earned a 199-154 victory over No. 25 Navy Saturday inside the Rolf Aquatics Center. The Tigers also fell just short against No. 12 Notre Dame, 218-135.
The meet was highlighted by Mitch Schott setting a new program record of 1:33.40 in the 200 freestyle, an event he also won and earned an NCAA B cut in. Schott also won the 500 freestyle, touching the wall at 4:22.78 while John Ehling's time of 4:26.20 saw him come in second.
Princeton earned a 1-2-3 sweep in the 400 IM thanks to Noah Sech (3:50.03) who earned an NCAA B cut, Hunter Kim (3:54.03) and Lucas Strøbek (3:54.03).
The Tigers earned the top-two finishes in the 1000 freestyle after Ehling touched the wall at 9:07.55 and Schott at 9:10.00.
Aidan Wang's score of 364.80 saw him secure a first-place finish in the 1-meter diving and earn an NCAA zone cut. On the 3-meter board Wang finished second with a score of 365.20 and Luca Fassi third with a score of 346.70, with both scores being NCAA zone cuts.
Two out of the top-three finishes in the 200 IM belonged to Princeton. Tyler Hong won the event in 1:46.09, an NCAA B cut, and Noah Sech finished third in 1:47.35.
Arthur Balva earned a second-place finish in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:45.93. Schott also took second in the 100 freestyle, finishing in 43.41.
The quartet of Schott, Daniel Li, Brett Feyerick and Lucas Tudoras finished third in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 2:53.85.
