Brown Wins Twice; Sun, Smithwick, Seltzer Also Win At Tri-Meet Vs. Virginia Tech And Penn State

Eliza Brown won the 100 and 200 breaststrokes, Eleanor Sun won the 200 free and Heidi Smithwick won the 100 fly in the Princeton women's swimming and diving team's tri-meet against Virginia Tech and Penn State in Christiansburg, Va., Saturday. Maddie Seltzer was Princeton's other individual winner as she took the 3-meter diving.
Princeton defeated Penn State 208-91 and fell to Virginia Tech 162-138.
Isabella Korbly, Margaux McDonald, Margaret Hayes and Sabrina Johnston won the 200 medley relay in the day's first event.
Sun and Hayley Clark went 1-2 in the 200 free, while Sun was second in the 200 breast and 200 IM and Clark second in the 500 free. The 200 IM saw Sun, Dakota Tucker, Liza Whitmire and Meg Wheeler go 2-3-4-5.
In addition to her win in the 100 fly, Smithwick finished third in the 200 free, followed by Ellie Marquardt, who was fourth. Edie Simecek and Veronique Rossouw were 4-5 behind Smithwick in the 100 fly.
Johnston and McDonald went 2-3 in the 100 back, and Johnston had another second in the 100 free, followed by Ela Noble. Tucker, Kamila Isaiva and Liza Whitmire followed Brown in fourth, fifth and seventh in the 100 breast.
Caroline Bentz and Noble went 2-3 in the 50 free, and McDonald, Grace Black and Tucker were 3-4-5 in the 200 back.
Seltzer was second on the platform in addition to her win on the 3-meter. Hanna Johnsson-Stjernstrom won the 1-meter.
The H-Y-P meet is next for Princeton, who will host Harvard and Yale at DeNunzio Feb. 2-3.
