MOON TOWNSHIP, PA.- The Tigers faced the Robert Morris Colonials for their second straight season opener. A first career hat trick from Sarah Paul highlighted the night as Princeton picked up a 7-1 victory for the first win of 2024-25 season.
Robert Morris got on the board first by taking advantage of a power play. That lead would not last long before Hannah Fetterolf notched her first career goal with assists from Teja Gatfield and Katherine Khramtsov.
This would shift the momentum in favor of the Tigers as Jane Kuehl scored a goal of her own and Gatfield tallied her second assist of the night.
Mia Coene's goal would give Princeton a 3-1 lead after the first period.
The Colonials started off the second period on the power play but that didn't deter the Tigers. Princeton was able to avoid any trouble and push the pressure with a power play of their own and they did just that. Paul slapped the shot in from distance past the Robert Morris keeper for her first goal of the period.
Paul went on to score two more times in the second alone to bump the lead to 6-1.
Princeton closed out the game strong with the final goal coming on an empty netter from Mackenzie Alexander for her own career first.
The Tigers outshot the Colonials 54-18 on goal and 92-44 overall. Paul led the team with four points and goalie Jennifer Olnowich made 17 saves in net. Princeton was a perfect 3-3 on the power play and four different players scored in the 7-1 win.
The two teams will close out the two-game series tomorrow with puck drop set for 3:00 PM.
