PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton men's soccer team remains home on Tuesday to close out its non-conference slate this season with a matchup against the Seton Hall Pirates. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Roberts Stadium.Â
About the Tigers
- With Jack Jasinski's free kick goal proving to be game winner, Princeton defeated Yale 1-0 at home on Saturday in its fourth Ivy League win.Â
- Princeton clinched a spot in the 2024 Ivy League Championship tournament following Saturday's contests, as the Tigers remain in the second spot in the Ivy standings. The berth will be the program's first after the inaugural tournament last year.
- Jasinski's goal was the first of his career, and after helping Princeton to a 2-0 week with two shutouts, the junior defender was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week.
- Princeton's most recent non-conference game was a 1-0 road win at Fordham last Tuesday, with Kevin Kelley scoring the game-winner with a laser from outside the box.
- Daniel Ittycheria leads the Tiger offense with five goals on the season and one assist for 11 points. He is also third in the Ivy League in both shots and shots on goal, averaging 3.77 and 1.69, respectively.
- Kelley is behind him with three goals and an assist on the season for seven points, while Will Francis also has three goals to his credit.
- Ittycheria and Francis have proven to be a dangerous combination in the box, as the Tigers have seen three games so far in which both junior forwards scored.Â
- Jasinski is the ninth Tiger to have found the back of the net this season, including Harry Roberts, Ian Nunez, Giuliano Whitchurch, Nico Nee and Gabe Duchovny. Â
- Jasinski leads the Tigers in assists with three on the season.
- Senior captain Khamari Hadaway has taken the majority of matches in goal for Princeton, registering 19 saves and one shutout across seven games.Â
- Sophomore Andrew Samuels has seen action in four games, recording two shutouts and 10 saves on the season for a 0.63 GAA.
- Three different goalkeepers have earned shutouts for Princeton this season, including Samuels, Hadaway and fellow senior Will Watson.
- The Tiger defense has a goals-allowed average of just 1.08, the third-best in the Ivy League.
- Princeton is now just one of seven teams in the country to have zero draws on the season, and the only one in the Ivy League.Â
- The Tigers are ranked 15th nationally in corner kicks, registering an average of 6.38 per game, while also taking 40th in shots per game with 13.77.Â
About the New Tigers
- The Tigers' Class of 2028 was ranked the no. 13 recruiting class by TopDrawerSoccer, including Cyrus Klinenberg (No. 77), Kristian Kelley (No. 82), Roka Tsunehara (No. 113), Dash Papez (No. 116), and Nathan Salerno.
- The Tiger newcomers are already making significant contributions to the Orange and Black's success. Tsunehara has been a mainstay in the Tiger starting XI, while freshmen Kelley has two starts to his credit after seeing action in eight games.
- A pair of new Tigers hail from the D.C. United academy system in Papez and Zhang. Papez has three starts and an assist on the season across four matches this season so far, while Zhang has also notched one start, seeing action in five games. The two led their team to win the U16 MLS Next Cup Playoffs while making deep runs in both his U15 and U17 years in 2023.
- Tsunehara was named to the TopDrawerSoccer preseason All-Freshman team on August 20. The Burlingame, Calif., native was the 2022 MLS Next U16 National MVP. He was also a leading scorer for the San Jose Earthquakes U17 team as they reached the semifinals of the MLS Next cup in 2023.
- Freshman goalkeeper Salerno comes to Princeton after playing with the Columbus Crew II and helping secure key victories in the MLS Next Pro playoffs.Â
About Coach Barlow
- Head coach Jim Barlow is in his 28th season as the men's soccer head coach and has accumulated 218 career wins with the Tigers, the most for any soccer coach in Princeton history, men's or women's. Barlow was also named the 2021 Ivy League Coach of the Year.
