PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton women's cross country team will travel to Bethlehem, Penn. this Saturday, October 5 for the 50th annual Paul Short Run.
The meet will be hosted by Lehigh University, with Tigers competing in the Open and Gold women's races.
About the Tigers
Princeton enters the meet ranked fourth in the Mid-Atlantic Region, according to the most recent USTFCCCA polls.
Most recently, Princeton took third place in a field of 17 teams at the Spiked Shoe Invite on September 13th.
Senior Mena Scatchard has been a standout for the Tigers, leading the squad at both the Spiked Shoe Invite, where she took fifth (6k - 20:25.2,) and the New Jersey Jam, where she took first (4k - 14:01.6). Scatchard also earned the first Ivy League Athlete of the Week award this season on September 10th.
The new Tigers have already been significant contributors to the Orange & Black's success, with Meg Madison passing 21 other runners during the Spiked Shoe Invite for eighth place (20:40.6), following up another eighth-place finish in the New Jersey Jam (14:16.4).
Also at the Spiked Shoe Invite, which featured a field of 221 runners, Anna McNatt finished in 13th place (20:46.4), while Olivia Martin (21:02.4) and Lexi Allen (21:07.7) took 22nd and 30th place, respectively.
The Tigers began the 2024 season after placing second at the 2023 Ivy League Cross Country Championships. In 2023, Scatchard was named Second-Team All-Ivy after placing 14th (21:29.9) in the race. Princeton also took sixth at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals in 2023, with Scatchard placing 35th (20:54.0).
Brad Hunt is in his ninth season as head coach, and has coached five student-athletes to First Team All-Ivy honors (most recently Fiona Max in 2023), 12 to Second Team All-Ivy honors, and 18 to All-Region honors.
