November 23, 2024 | Women's Ice Hockey
PRINCETON, N.J.- The Princeton women's hockey team was back at Baker Rink Saturday afternoon to face the No. 8 Cornell Big Red.
Ready to capitalize on the big Friday night victory over No. 5 Colgate, Princeton struck first early in the first period with a goal by Katherine Khramtsov. As the final seconds counted down in the first period, Issy Wunder got the puck and took it the length of the ice for the second goal of the game.
Mackenzie Alexander kicked off the second period by tipping the puck into the back of the net to give the Tigers a three goal cushion.
Cornell would not back down as they responded with the team's first goal on a shot from Lily Delianedis to chip away at the Princeton advantage. Less than two minutes later, Karel Prefontaine scored a goal of her own to cut the Princeton lead to one.
The Big Red kept its foot on the gas and tallied its third score of the period by Claudia Yu to tie things up at 3-3.
Princeton was called for a penalty and Cornell was on the power play. Avi Adam immediately slapped a shot on goal that went past Jennifer Olnowich to give the Big Red the lead.
The Tigers had opportunities with a final power play in the closing moments in the third period but were unable to cash in as Cornell took the 4-3 win.
Princeton will be back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 27 against Boston University.
