Softball Earns Top Billing in Ivy League Preseason Poll

If the Ivy League's preseason poll is predictive, the 2024 Ivy League softball tournament will be a reunion of 2023 back at Princeton Softball Stadium at Strubing Field.
Princeton, Harvard, Yale and Columbia were in the top four spots in the league poll as voted on by league athletic communications contacts and media members. Princeton received eight first-place votes and 119 poll points, ahead of Harvard's seven first-place votes and 113 poll points, Yale's one first-place vote and 96 poll points, and Columbia's 77 poll points. Cornell (58), Brown (51), Dartmouth (40) and Penn (22) rounded out the poll.
Princeton returns three All-Ivy League honorees from last year in third baseman Julia Dumais, shortstop Grace Jackson and outfielder Allison Ha. Of Princeton's 369 hits from last season, the team returns the batters behind 242 of those hits, led by Ha (45), Jackson (39) and Dumais (42), along with former Ivy Rookie of the Year Sophia Marsalo (32) and Lauren Sablone, a 2022 All-Ivy honoree, among those with 20-plus hits last season.
In the circle, though Princeton graduated two-time Ivy Pitcher of the Year Alexis Laudenslager, the arms who threw the remaining 187 of Princeton's 328 innings from last year are back, in Meghan Harrington, Molly Chambers and Brielle Wright.
Princeton will get the season going Feb. 23 at the College of Charleston's three-day event in South Carolina. The Ivy season will begin March 23 at Columbia.
