Men's Tennis Earns Hard-Fought 4-3 Victory Over Tulsa
February 09, 2024 | Men's Tennis
PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's tennis team earned a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Tulsa Friday night at the Case Tennis Center.
"This was a really gritty, hard-fought win," said Head Coach Billy Pate. "We lost a close match 4-3 two weeks ago to Tulsa that was back and forth and this one was the same. Getting the doubles point and four first sets in singles was a big boost. I liked the way we came out and established leads. Tulsa mounted a good challenge midway through singles and from that point it was anyone's match but Top finished strong to get us across the finish line."
The Tigers got off to a strong start, winning the doubles point. The duo of Evan Wen and Alan Kam overcame Timothy Seger and Gus Tettable, 6-2, at No. 3 before Ellis Short and Sebastian Sec upended Callum Gale and Alex Okonkwo at No. 2, 6-2.
In singles, Sec triumphed at No. 3 over Okonkwo, 6-4, 6-2, then Aleksandar Mitric dispatched Victor Tosetto at No. 6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5). Fnu Nidunjianzan's 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-1 win over Thiago Pernas at No. 2 would clinch the match for Princeton.
