Women's Basketball Rallies For 60-49 Victory Over Harvard

PRINCETON – The Princeton Women's Basketball Team allowed the Harvard Crimson to shoot just 24 percent in the second half en route to a 60-49 victory at Jadwin Gym on Friday evening.

Trailing by five, 35-30, with a minute gone in the third quarter, Princeton ripped off seven of nine to tie the game at 37-all. The Tigers finished the frame with six of eight to hold a 43-39 lead with one stanza to go.

The home squad's run continued as it stretched its advantage to 13, 54-41, with three minutes left.

Harvard never got within double-digits again.

The Crimson made just six baskets on 25 attempts in the second half and went 0-of-5 from deep.

Ashley Chea hit a three-pointer as time expired to tie the Ivy matchup at 12 after the first quarter.

Harvard jumped in front by nine, 30-21, in the second frame with an 18-6 sprint before settling with a 33-28 halftime lead.

Kaitlyn Chen and Chet Nweke led the Tigers with 13 points each. Chen had seven dimes and six rebounds while Nweke produced six rebounds in the victory. Madison St. Rose also added 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting.

Harvard's 49 points is tied for its lowest total of the season. The other time, the Crimson only scored 49 points … vs. Princeton on Jan. 13.

Princeton improves to 21-4 overall and 11-1 in the Ivy League while Harvard falls to 15-10 and 8-4 in conference action. The Tigers finish the weekend vs. Dartmouth Saturday. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
