SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The No. 26 Princeton University men's tennis team wrapped up the San Diego Invitational with a 4-3 victory over South Florida Sunday.
"It was a solid weekend for us as we were able to earn two wins against teams that will be in contention for post season play," said Head Coach Billy Pate. "I felt we played our most complete match against ASU and there's a lot of takeaways from this weekend. We've shown when we have a collective performance with energy and execution we are tough to beat and can challenge anyway in the country. We look forward to getting back to campus with a weekend free to reflect and get gear up for Ivy play."
The Tigers won the doubles point, with the duo of Landon Ardila and Ellis Short taking down Ben Hudson and Bruno Oliveira, 6-2, at No. 2, and Sebastian Sec and Alan Kam defeating Davide Tortora and Elijah Cham at No. 3, 6-4.
In singles, Fnu Nidunjianzan earned a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Erik Grevelius at No. 2, and Ardila upended Oliveira, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 4. Sec clinched the match for Princeton at No. 3 when he dispatched Tom Pisane, 6-3, 6-4.
