On Penn: The Quakers opened the Ivy season last weekend with a visit from Cornell in which Penn took two out of three to move to 7-12 on the season. Katie Reagan is hitting .358 to lead the team while Payton Bean (2-2, 3.79 ERA, 40 2/3 IP) and Rachel Riley (2-6, 4.48, 45 1/3) have started 16 of the team's 19 games. Brianna Brown entered the week ranking 20th in the nation in stolen bases per game, at 0.63. Penn coach Christie Novatin was a Princeton assistant coach from 2016-19, helping the Tigers to Ivy League titles in 2016 and 2017.Â
The Series vs. Penn: Princeton is 5-1 against the Quakers since the post-pandemic resumption, taking two of three last year in Philadelphia and sweeping the series two years ago in Princeton. Princeton also took two of three in 2019 in Philadelphia after Penn swept the series in Princeton in 2018, the last time Penn won a game in Princeton. All-time, Princeton is 70-33 against the Quakers.
Looking Ahead: Princeton will have a non-conference midweek game at Lehigh on Wednesday as head coach Lisa Van Ackeren returns to her alma mater. The Mountain Hawks are 13-14 overall and 3-0 in the Patriot League heading into this weekend's visit from Holy Cross. The Tigers will return to Ivy League play next weekend at Harvard.
