No. 3 Men's Lightweight Rowing Team Collects Campbell and Diamond Cup Challenge Cups

OVERPECK, N.J. – The No. 3 Princeton Men's Lightweight Rowing Team earned the Campbell and Diamond Challenge Cups today with victories over No. 8 Columbia and No. 6 Dartmouth.
The Lions (6:42.0) got a win at 3V to begin the action over the Tigers (6:46.8). The 2V rebounded with a 6:21.8, 3.4 seconds in front of Columbia (6:25.3). The Campbell Cup race was decided by 6.5 seconds as the 1V crossed the line at 6:10.05.
In the afternoon, Princeton's 2V stretched its lead from 1.5 seconds with 500m to go to a 4.5-second victory over the Big Green. The 1V took home 6:05.7, 13.7 seconds ahead of Dartmouth to easily earn the Diamond Challenge Cup.
"That's the second straight week we handled ourselves pretty well in some tricky conditions - last week with the heavy rain and cold and this week with the gusty crosswind," said Princeton head coach Marty Crotty. "The rowing in practice has been focused and sharp so it's good to see that holding up in those conditions."
Princeton hosts No. 2 Cornell next Saturday at Lake Carnegie for the Platt Cup.
