Four Wrestlers Earn 2024 All-Ivy Season Honors

PRINCETON, NJ - Today, the Ivy League announced that four Princeton wrestlers have secured spots on the 2024 Second Team All-Ivy list. Among these wrestlers are Sean Pierson, Nate Dugan, Luke Stout, and Matt Cover, all essential members of the Tigers' 2024 dual lineup.
Sean Pierson, a fifth-year senior, ended the regular season with an even 8-8 record. As the captain for 2024, he made an early mark by clinching fifth place on the podium at the Princeton Open, the first competition of the year. Pierson showcased his skills in ten dual meets this season, competing in the 133-pound weight class, and achieved a 5-5 record. Notably, this season marks Pierson's inaugural All-Ivy team recognition in his collegiate career.
Nate Dugan concluded his senior regular season as the Tigers' standout performer, boasting an outstanding 19-5 individual record. His season commenced with a first-place victory at the 2023 Princeton Open, followed by a commendable third-place finish at the Navy Classic. In the competitive arena of the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships, Dugan secured a respectable sixth-place finish with a 3-2 record. Throughout his final season, Dugan showcased his prowess with an impressive 9-2 record in dual meets, securing notable victories over #17 Maximus Hale from Penn, #30 Aaron Ayzerov from Columbia, and the top-seeded wrestler in the Midlands Championships, Layne Malczewski from Michigan State. Dugan has been ranked in national media polls all season long and currently sits at the No. 21 spot in the latest Coaches' Poll
Luke Stout finished the regular season with an impressive 18-5 record. As the captain for 2024, Stout kicked off the season by securing first place at the Navy Classic and clinching sixth place at the Princeton Open. In the highly competitive Ken Kraft Midlands Championships, he secured the runner-up position in the 197-pound weight class, notching three victories with only one loss. Throughout the season, Stout maintained a 5-3 record in dual meets and consistently garnered national media attention. Currently, he holds the No. 12 position in the latest Coaches' Poll.
Matt Cover wrapped his senior 2024 regular season as the heavyweight wrestler with a 14-7 record. The senior began the season with notable podium finishes, securing third place at the Princeton Open and fifth place at the Navy Classic. Despite facing a setback at the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships due to injury after winning his opening bout, Cover demonstrated resilience and determination. Upon his clearance to return to the dual lineup during the Tigers' match against Harvard on the road, he made a triumphant comeback, securing a pin in 2:20, providing crucial bonus points that ultimately contributed to the Tigers' victory.
