Zhang Takes Home Ivy Player, Rookie of the Week Awards

After hitting .636 as Princeton swept four games on the week, Princeton rookie Sonia Zhang was selected by the Ivy League's coaches as the league's Player and Rookie of the Week.

The week included a three-game sweep of Yale, vaulting Princeton into first place in the Ivy League with two weekends to play. It's the second Ivy Player of the Week honor for Zhang, who shared the award on March 25.

Zhang went 7 for 11 on the week to lead the Tigers, scoring five runs and driving in six while adding had three doubles and a homer to slug 1.182 and drawing three walks and an hit-by-pitch for a .733 on-base percentage. Zhang was a perfect 12 for 12 in the field and added a stolen base while getting hits over all four games. Against Yale, Zhang went 6 for 9 in the with all five runs of her runs scored, five of the six RBI, a homer and two doubles coming in the series.

Zhang and Princeton will host Brown this weekend as the race for the Ivy League title and the chance to host the Ivy League Tournament draws closer to completion.
