Cherniss and LeRoux Collect Silver At U-23 World Rowing Championships

St. Catharines, Canada – Margot LeRoux and Joely Cherniss helped the United States 8+ to a silver medal at the U-23 World Rowing Championships on Friday afternoon.
The boat (6:08.35) corralled second place just behind Great Britain (6:06.58) while Germany was third (6:08.61). Chernis and LeRoux paced the United States to a 6:01.73 to win its heat earlier in the week.
Phaedra van der Molen and the Netherlands 4- reached the A/B Semifinals by finishing second its heat (6:36.59). The boat just missed out on the A Final, placing fourth in the semifinal (7:07.85), less than three-tenths of a second behind third place France.
In the B Final, the Netherlands was second (6:36.51) trailing only the United States (6:35.67).
Kerry Grundlingh in the South Africa 2- boat with Emma Gray secured fourth in the B Final (7:37.24). The pair ran an 8:14.68 in its heat and 8:06.60 in the repechage.
