Men's Water Polo Set For Season Opener

PRINCETON, N.J.- After successfully winning the Northeast Water Polo Conference Championship for the third year in a row in 2023, No.5 Princeton University men's water polo team will be back in action on Saturday at the Navy Open.
The Tigers will open the season against the Biola University Eagles at 11:45 a.m. before a matchup against Occidental at 4:45 p.m.
Princeton will wrap up the weekend against George Washington on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
The team earned a program record 28 wins in 2023 and returns three All-Americans in Roko Pozaric, Vladan Mitrovic and Kristóf Kovács.
Pozaric was the first Princeton Tiger to ever be named a Cutino Award Finalist and First-Team All-American in his career year last season. The Zagreb, Croatia native scored 76 goals, 47 assists, 41 steals, 28 drawn ejections and a 111-9 sprint record.
Mitrovic earned Third-Team All-American honors with 54 goals, 22 assists, 16 blocks, and 15 steals.
Kovács was an Honorable Mention selection with a 14-4 record, .594 save percentage and 203 stops.
In 2023, the Tigers scored a program record 471 goals with five returners in Pozaric (76), Mitrovic (54), George Caras (51), JP Ohl (33), and Finn LeSieur (30) all scoring over 30 goals.
The Tigers won the sole matchup against the Eagles in 2021, and this will be the first time Princeton will face Occidental. In their recent meetings, Princeton holds an 8-2 advantage over George Washington.
