Mulhauser and Rivera Take Bronze, Martino Takes 6th at F&M Open
January 10, 2025 | Wrestling
LANCASTER, PA. – Three Tigers placed at the F&M Open in Lancaster, Pa. on Friday, with Eligh Rivera and Kole Mulhauser earning third place finishes in their respective weight classes. Chris Martino also earned 6th place after working his way back onto the podium through the wrestlebacks.
Mulhauser had a dominant performance on the day, earning three tech fall victories and two major decisions on his road to the podium. Mulhauser began with a tech fall over Mason Testerman (Millersville - UnAttached), before earning two MDs over Cole Bartram (Lock Haven-Unattached) and Matt Walsh (Harvard). In the quarterfinals, Mulhauser earned a 16-1 tech fall over Columbia's Nick Fine. A default pushed Mulhauser into the wrestlebacks, but he clinched bronze with another 16-0 win over Jakob Gilfoil of Army West Point.
Eligh Rivera also had a series of strong performances, beginning with a pin over Joe Fernau (Air Force), followed up with a tech fall over Ryan Phillips (Campbell). Another tech fall over Buffalo's Aaron Lanster sent Rivera to the quarterfinals, where a decision over F&M's own Bryce Kresho sent Rivera to the semis. Ultimately, a forfeit from Ryan Jack handed Rivera the bronze.
Chris Martino went 4-2 on the day after a loss in round two put him to work in the wrestlebacks. Martino went on to earn a decision over Hofstra's Zach Reilley and a tech fall over Penn State's Brock Weiss. A decision over Jack Crook put Martino in the consolation quarterfinals, and advancing on two forfeits, Martino landed in the sixth position in the 149lb class.
Other notable performances from the Tigers included a first collegiate pin for Will Sather, who earned the fall in just 1:24 over Buffalo's Jack Macdonald. Sather's first pin was immediately followed by his second, with another fall over Campbell's Markos Mihalopoulos.
Dan Jones earned two tech falls on the day, including over Harvard's Cole Bayless and Campbell's Hudson Waldrop.
Up next, the Tigers will return to Pennsylvania to take on Clarion in a dual meet next Sunday, January 19th, with the first bout scheduled for 2 p.m.
