Pearson Makes 36 Saves In 1-0 Overtime Win To Secure Sweep Of Bentley
January 26, 2025 | Men's Ice Hockey
Sweep Secured!
Princeton gutted out a 1-0 win over Bentley when Brendan Gorman scored 0:33 into overtime, finishing off a weekend sweep of the Falcons at Hobey Baker Rink.
The win improves Princeton to 8-10-1 overall and the Tigers finish the non-conference portion of the season 5-2-0. The five wins in non-conference play are the most since Princeton also went 5-2-0 in non-conference play during the 2016-17 season.
Gorman's goal made a stellar performance from Ethan Pearson stand up as the senior netminder made 36 saves – one off his career high – to record his fifth career shutout. The victory is his second of the weekend, completing a two-game stretch where he stopped 61 of 62 shots faced.
Bentley appeared to have taken a 1-0 lead midway through the second period when Nick Bochen knocked in a loose puck that was bouncing around near the crease, but Princeton challenged that there was goaltender interference and video review overturned the call on the ice and negated the goal to keep the game scoreless.
In the third period, Princeton killed off a pair of Bentley power plays to set up the overtime finish.
Princeton plays all ECAC games the rest of the way, heading to Harvard and Dartmouth January 31 and February 1.

The Tigers held the puck the entire short duration of overtime, with David Ma and Kevin Anderson patiently working the puck back to Gorman inside the Princeton defensive zone where then weaved his way down the ice before uncorking a snapshot inside the far post for his seventh goal of the season and his fifth career game-winner.Weaving His Way To The Win!
