ALL THE WAY HOME
The Tigers just concluded a stretch where they played 11 of 13 games at home between 11/29-1/26 with only a pair of one-game road trips mixed in. The Tigers went 6-5-0 in that block of games at Baker Rink and are 6-6-1 at home this season.
I'M ON FIRE
Brendan Gorman enters the week with 12 points (5g, 7a) over his last 13 games and leads the Tigers overall with 16 points in 19 games. He has two short-handed goals this season, 2nd in the ECAC and 4th in the country.
All-time, Gorman now ranks No. 67 in scoring by a Princeton men's hockey player with 59 points (19g, 40a) in 79 games.
NO SURRENDER
There was no retreat from senior defenseman Noah de la Durantaye last season as he had career highs in points (18) and assists (15) while his three goals were one away from his career high. He is Princeton's active leader in games played (107) and tied in assists assists (40) while ranking second in points (53). De la Durantaye has two game-winning goals this season to rank No. 6 in GWGs by a defenseman in the nation.
Entering this weekend, de la Durantaye is tied for 81st all-time on Princeton's career scoring list with 53 points (13g, 40a) in 107 games.
Among defenseman, de la Durantaye is No. 11 all-time in points and No. 10 in assists and is alone in No. 15 in goals.
THE 'E' STREET SHUFFLE
There were some sparks flying in E's crease as Ethan Pearson made 50 saves and allowed just two goals in a 1-0-1 weekend at Yale and Brown to earn ECAC Goaltender of the Week honors.
He was back in business last weekend, stopping 61-of-62 shots faced en route to a pair of wins over Bentley to again earn ECAC Goaltender of the Week accoldaes. Pearson is 3-4-1 overall this season and boasts a 2.22 GAA and a .918 save percentage.
JACOB'S LADDER
David Jacobs had 15 points (5g, 10a) as a freshman in 2022-23 over 32 games before climbing the points ladder last year and becoming almost a point-per-game player with 24 points in 30 games last season as a sophomore. He has 12 points (3g, 9a) in 19 games this season. He had his third career three-point game against UNH, scoring his first goal since March 1, 2024 -- ending a 14-game schneid. Two weeks ago, he had a two-goal game against Colgate for his second career multi-goal game.
Jacobs has crept into the Top-100 all-time in scoring by a Princeton player, tied for No. 88 all-time in points with 51 (15g, 36a) in 81 games. He reached 50 points in one fewer game than current AHLer Corey Andonovski.
WE TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN
When a Tiger is in trouble and finds themselves in the sin bin, the penalty kill has stepped up and taken care of business as the Tigers are 21-for-25 (84.0%) on the penalty kill over their last 10 games and 10-for-12 over their last five. That run of staunch PKs has moved Princeton up to No. 6 in the ECAC at 79.6% overall.
THE WALL
Arthur Smith was named honorable mention All-Ivy last season in goal as a freshman bolstered by a 5-1-0 record against Ivy opponents with a 2.26 GAA and a .926 save percentage. This season, he earned ECAC Goaltender of the Week honors after stopping 66-of-68 shots in two wins over No. 12 Ohio State -- his second career ECAC Goaltender of the Week honor. He then followed up with ECAC Goaltender of the Month honors for December after a 3-0-0/1.01/.962 line in Princeton's three wins. That marked the second December in a row that Smith was named ECAC Goaltender of the Month -- overall in December games over his two seasons, Smith is 6-0-1 with a 1.40 GAA and a .947 save percentage.
LONG TIME COMIN'
The Tigers finished the non-conference portion of the season 5-2-0. The five wins in non-conference play are the most since Princeton also went 5-2-0 in non-conference play during the 2016-17 season.Â
HIGH HOPES
Seven of Princeton's 13 returning upperclassmen from last season are coming off seasons where they set a new career high in points and have high hopes to build off that for 24-25. David Jacobs (+9), Tyler Rubin (+8), Jaxson Ezman (+5), Brendan Gorman (+5), Jack Cronin (+1), Noah de la Durantaye (+1), and Brendan Wang (+1) all set new career highs last season.
So far this season, only Nick Marciano (+5), Jaxson Ezman (+1), Alex Konovalov (+1), Kevin Anderson (+1) and Brendan Wang (+1) have set a new career high. as will the next point from Ian Devlin and David Ma.
BETTER DAYS
These are better days for senior Alex Konovalov who has set a career high with five points this season, tallying 1 goal and 4 assists in 16 games. This comes after tallying six total points -- all assists -- over 43 games during his first three seasons.
