Daniells Strikes In OT To Secure 4-3 Win At Harvard For Men's Hockey
January 31, 2025 | Men's Ice Hockey
Favor returned!
Â
Princeton flipped the script on Harvard in the return match from the season opener, securing a win in overtime on road ice when Kai Daniells drove the net and knocked in the game winner with 1:28 to go in overtime.
Â
The win is the first in Cambridge for the Tigers since a 2-1 (OT) win on March 2, 2013 – snapping a run of 13 games at Bright-Landry without a win (0-11-2 overall).
Â
Gunty had his second career multi-point game, adding an assist on Buydens' goal. David Ma also had a multi-point game – his fourth career multi-point affair as he set a new career high with a goal and two assists.
Â
David Ma got the Tigers going with a goal 7:48 into the game. A good defensive step from Ma in his own end denied Harvard and sent the Tigers in transition the other way where all five Princeton players had a touch on the puck before Jaxson Ezman fed a diagonal pass to Nick Marciano at the right circle for a quick touch back to Ma who knocked in his fifth goal of the season from an open spot in front before the Crimson defense could recover.
Â
Â
The Crimson took a 2-1 lead with 2:35 left in the second period on a goal from Johnson when his redirection of an Ian Moore shot trickled through Pearson and just over the goal line.
Â
Carson Buydens hopped on a loose puck and flipped home his first goal of the season 4:26 into the third period. His net drive had him in the right place to snag a Miles Gunty rebound and level the game at 2-2.
Â
The lead was short-lived as Harvard scored 1:15 later via an Ian Moore shot from the point.
Â
The Tigers conclude their trip to New England with a contest at Dartmouth tomorrow night at 7 p.m,

Harvard tied the game 1-1 midway through the second period, when a turnover deep in the Princeton end led to a quick 2-on-1 where Ben MacDonald one-timed a Cameron Johnson pass by Pearson to end Pearson's personal shutout streak at 112:10 dating back to the second period of Saturday's game against Bentley.Oh, That's Pretty!
