Men's Hockey Defeats No. 19 Dartmouth To Complete Weekend Sweep
February 01, 2025 | Men's Ice Hockey
No. 19 Dartmouth thought its party had started early with a first period goal, but Princeton countered with the game's next three goals en route to a 3-1 win over the Big Green.
Â
The win completes a sweep of the trip to Harvard and Dartmouth, Princeton's first road sweep of its most northern Ivy foes since January of 2010.
Â
Jake Manfre and Brendan Gorman each had a goal and an assist, while Jaxson Ezman netted the game-winner midway through the second period.
Â
The Big Green opened the scoring 11:34 into the game when a CJ Foley shot from the point found its way through traffic in front for a 1-0 Dartmouth lead.
Â
Princeton pushed back after conceding the opening score, finally finding the back of the net with less than a minute remaining. Jake Manfre netted his sixth goal of the season, one-timing a Drew Garzone pass inside the near post from the left faceoff dot.
Â
The Tigers continued to be on the gas in the second period, eventually taking a 2-1 lead when Jaxson Ezman one-timed a clean faceoff win from Brendan Gorman 7:13 into the middle period.
The third period saw Princeton continue to force the issue, outshooting a Big Green team which was hunting the equalizer, 10-6, in the final frame. The last shot was the important one as Gorman took a loose puck knocked free by Manfre and fired it into the empty net for an all-important insurance goal.

Late in the second period, Princeton had to settle in and kill three Dartmouth penalties, stepping up and washing away all three – including 0:56 of 5-on-3 time where Ethan Pearson made three big stops.Jax The Ripper!
