PROVE IT ALL NIGHT
Princeton will be playing its 14th game of the season against a team currently ranked or receiving votes in the current USCHO Poll when it takes on Clarkson Friday night. The Tigers are 4-9 against teams ranked or receiving votes, including a pair of wins over current No. 9 Ohio State. To this date, nine of Princeton's 10 total losses have come to teams ranked or receiving votes in this week's national poll.
I'M ON FIRE
Brendan Gorman enters the week with 15 points (6g, 9a) over his last 15 games and leads the Tigers overall with 19 points in 21 games. More recently, he is riding a five-game point streak with 6 total points (2g, 4a) over that span.
He has two short-handed goals this season, 2nd in the ECAC and 6th in the country. This season, he is averaging 0.9 points-per-game, which is No. 11 in the ECAC.
All-time, Gorman now ranks No. 59 in scoring by a Princeton men's hockey player with 62 points (20g, 42a) in 81 games. His next point will move him into a tie for 57th and he is two points away from a tie for 53rd.
NO SURRENDER
There was no retreat from senior defenseman Noah de la Durantaye last season as he had career highs in points (18) and assists (15) while his three goals were one away from his career high. He is Princeton's active leader in games played (109) and second in assists (40) and points (53). De la Durantaye has two game-winning goals this season to rank No. 7 in GWGs by a defenseman in the nation.
Entering this weekend, de la Durantaye is tied for 81st all-time on Princeton's career scoring list with 53 points (13g, 40a) in 109 games.
Among defenseman, de la Durantaye is No. 11 all-time in points and No. 10 in assists and is alone in No. 15 in goals.
LONG TIME COMIN'
The Tigers finished the non-conference portion of the season 5-2-0. The five wins in non-conference play are the most since Princeton also went 5-2-0 in non-conference play during the 2016-17 season.Â
THE 'E' STREET SHUFFLE
There were some sparks flying in E's crease as Ethan Pearson made 50 saves and allowed just two goals in a 1-0-1 weekend at Yale and Brown to earn ECAC Goaltender of the Week honors.
He was back in business against Bentley, stopping 61-of-62 shots faced en route to a pair of wins to again earn ECAC Goaltender of the Week accolades.Â
Last weekend, he won both games of the Harvard/Dartmouth trip to extend his personal -- and the team's -- win streak to four.
Pearson is 5-4-1 overall this season and boasts a 2.17 GAA and a .920 save percentage. His GAA leads the ECAC and ranks No. 16 in the country, and he is No. 3 in the ECAC in save percentage and No. 23 in the country.
WE TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN
When a Tiger is in trouble and finds themselves in the sin bin, the penalty kill has stepped up and taken care of business as the Tigers are 25-for-29 (86.0%) on the penalty kill over their last 12 games and 14-for-16 (87.5%0 over their last seven. That run of staunch PKs has moved Princeton up to No. 5 in the ECAC at 81.0% overall.
MAN AT THE TOP
Jake Manfre is the man at the top of the Princeton rookie scoring race with 6-5-11 totals through 21 games. After tallying an assist in his first collegiate game against Harvard (11/8) he notched his first career goal in his third career game with a redirection at Yale (11/15) before exploding for 2 PPGs and an assist in a 3-1 win over Ohio State (11/29) and adding an assist against the Buckeyes on 11/30 for a four-point weekend to earn ECAC Rookie of the Week honors and ECAC Rookie of the Month honors for November. More recently, he had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win at #19 Dartmouth. Manfre's three PPGs this season are No. 11 overall in the ECAC and No. 5 among ECAC rookies. His two game-winning goals this season are No. 2 among ECAC rookies, and also No. 8 by a freshman in all of Division I hockey.
BETTER DAYS
These are better days for senior Alex Konovalov who has set a career high with six points this season, tallying 1 goal and 5 assists in 18 games. He has assists in four of his last six games. This comes after tallying six total points -- all assists -- over 43 games during his first three seasons.Â
HIGH HOPES
Seven of Princeton's 13 returning upperclassmen from last season are coming off seasons where they set a new career high in points and have high hopes to build off that for 24-25. David Jacobs (+9), Tyler Rubin (+8), Jaxson Ezman (+5), Brendan Gorman (+5), Jack Cronin (+1), Noah de la Durantaye (+1), and Brendan Wang (+1) all set new career highs last season.
So far this season, Nick Marciano (+6), Jaxson Ezman (+3), David Ma (+3), Alex Konovalov (+2), Kevin Anderson (+1), Ian Devlin (+1) and Brendan Wang (+1) have set a new career high. The next point from Michael Young will set a new career high for him.
