October 06, 2025 | Men's Soccer
PRINCETON, N.J. – Andrew Samuels was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week for the third-consecutive week, the league announced Monday.
The honor comes after Samuels posted a 2-0 week with two more shutouts to now have six on the season and three consecutive.
On Tuesday, Samuels made five saves on the road at Army as the Tigers got the shutout, 2-0.
On Saturday against Brown, Samuels made three saves, including a diving stop in the 88th minute to keep Brown shut out as Princeton defeated the Bears 1-0.
He has allowed just one goal in the last seven games, and three total on the season.
One of the best goalkeepers in the country, Samuels ranks third in the nation in GAA (0.33) and fourth in save percentage (0.903). He is also sixth in shutouts.
Just halfway through the year, Samuels now ranks sixth all-time in the Princeton record book in single season shutouts.
His leadership between the posts has helped #13 Princeton to a 2-0 record in the Ivy League and 8-1 on the season. The Tigers rank first in the RPI rankings.
Samuels was named Defensive Player of the Week last week after shutting out the Harvard Crimson in Princeton's Ivy League opener on the road.
The week before, he was given the award after posting three-consecutive shutouts over Villanova, UMass and UAlbany.
Samuels and the Tigers will be back in action this weekend as they head to Cornell for an Ivy League battle in Ithaca. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
