Andrew Samuels Earns Fifth Ivy Defensive Player of the Week Award

PRINCETON -- Andrew Samuels was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week for the fifth time this season, announced Monday. The award comes after Samuels earned his 11th shutout of the season, setting a new program record for most shutouts in a single season.

Samuels made six saves in Princeton's 1-0 win on the road at Penn on Saturday, marking the team's final regular season game and 12th shutout of the year. With the result, #3 Princeton completed its 7-0 Ivy League campaign - just the third time the Tigers have gone undefeated in program history.

The feat also marked the first time in league history that a team has not allowed a single goal during the Ivy League season.

A weekend of historic triumph at the team and individual level, Samuels broke the record of 10 shutouts in a single season, set by Jason White in 2010.

The weekly award is Samuels's fifth of the year and second consecutive.

The Tigers will now look ahead to the Ivy League Tournament this week, which they will host as the No. 1 seed. Princeton will face fourth-seeded Harvard in the semifinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday in Roberts Stadium.
